Special Effects for Filmmakers

Hey Denver friends!  Check out this sweet event I'm going to be a part of.  The Denver Entertainment Art & Design Academy is hosting a one day seminar about Special FX for Filmmakers.  It should be a great day full of awesome presentations from some of the best creatives in Denver.  I'll be doing a presentation as well as screening INCUBATOR and talking about the Special FX process for the film.  Other presenters include our buddies Monster Midian Crosby, Jim Miligan as well as Colorado Film Comissioner Donald Zuckerman and Ed Kramer.  Be sure to check out the links below for more information.  I hope to see you there on June 9, 2012!

Five Years Old

Well, it's that time of year again.  Pretty People Pictures is another year older and this time we're celebrating our fifth anniversary.  Last year, we were proud to celebrate our films being selected to six international film festivals and the handful of awards we had won.  This year, it's a different story.

Our short film INCUBATOR was selected to 47 international film festivals, won eleven awards and was nominated for a dozen other awards.  It received great reviews by some of my favorite websites; my favorite magazine, Rue Morgue; as well as fans across the globe.  Because of this success, Annie and I were lucky enough to travel to film festivals across the continent.  We've been to Pittsburgh, Austin, Montreal and we will be going to Seattle at the end of the month.

It's safe to say 2011 was the year of INCUBATOR for us.  We never imagined it would be this successful and I can't tell you how thankful we are.  I want to thank all of the wonderful people we've had the pleasure of working with and meeting over the last year, as well as the last five years.  I also want to thank you for reading this and watching our movies.

In all honesty, 2012 might be a slower year for us.  It's pretty hard to top 2011, but we plan on giving it a shot in 2013.  Without revealing too much, we have big plans for the end of the year and look to make a big splash next year.

But don't worry, we still have plenty of cool things planned for 2012.  This summer, we will have a big announcement to make which will get us the most attention we've ever had.

So keep your eyes pealed.  We're not going anywhere.

Cheers!  And be sure to have a drink on us!

Seattle International Film Festival

INCUBATOR has been officially selected to play at the Seattle International Film Festival.  SIFF is the largest film festival in North America and we are incredibly honored to be a part of it.  We're playing in the horror shorts program aptly titled "Long Night's Journey Into Hell."  Is there anything cooler than that?

Three years ago, I attended the horror shorts program at SIFF where I saw Treevenge as well as Excision.  After watching Excision, I thought to myself, "Man, I need to step up my game and make a movie like that."  INCUBATOR was a direct result of the SIFF horror shorts program so to be a part of it years later is really cool.

This also gives us a chance to visit one of my favorite places in the world: Seattle, Washington.  We'll be there for the screening and hope to see you there as well.
